Stiebel Eltron: Celebrating 100 Years of Innovation
Founded on May 5, 1924, Stiebel Eltron began with a revolutionary invention by Dr. Theodor Stiebel—a highly efficient and durable ring-shaped immersion heater that transformed hot water preparation. Driven by initial success, Dr. Stiebel established his own company later that year, marking the official birth date of Stiebel Eltron. Today, the Stiebel Eltron Group is a global leader, offering advanced solutions for heating, cooling, ventilation, and hot water in buildings.
Company History
"In my work, 'ELTRON' encapsulates everything." These words, written by Dr. Theodor Stiebel in 1924, reflect his dedication to innovation. His breakthrough immersion heater design, developed while still studying in Berlin, replaced cumbersome and inefficient models of the time. The success of showcasing 100 samples at the Leipzig Spring Fair propelled him to found "ELTRON Dr. Theodor Stiebel" on May 5, 1924, starting production in a small Berlin workshop.
By 1927, the company expanded into instantaneous water heaters, pioneering solutions for efficient water heating. Innovations continued with the introduction of night-time electric water heaters in the 1930s, revolutionizing household hot water comfort. Over the decades, Stiebel Eltron diversified into heat storage, solar thermal, photovoltaic systems, and heat pumps, becoming synonymous with sustainable building technologies.
Today, Stiebel Eltron remains at the forefront of global innovation, driving the energy transition with renewable energy solutions. With a presence in over 120 countries, 26 subsidiaries, and 10 production sites worldwide, our commitment to quality and innovation ensures future-proof comfort and efficiency for homes everywhere.
