STIEBEL ELTRON collaborated with Loburn School in North Canterbury to improve air quality in a classroom as part of its renovation efforts in 2023. Following discussions with the Principal and a Board of Trustees representative, the VRL-C 870 G Premium ventilation system was selected. Its retrofit-friendly design made it ideal, eliminating the need for extensive ductwork in the existing space.
The system was installed by Craig Stevens of Dynamic Air & Electrical in January 2024. Before installation, a Tether monitoring system was deployed to measure air quality, recording data both pre- and post-installation. Monitoring continued through June 2024, showcasing significant improvements.
Our classrooms had persistent ventilation issues, leading us to explore solutions. STIEBEL ELTRON provided an exceptional system that effectively addressed humidity and CO2 peaks, operating quietly and creating a healthier environment for students and staff.

Post-installation results demonstrated a reduction in peak humidity levels from 84% to 77% and a significant drop in CO2 levels from 3100 ppm to 1450 ppm in the classroom accommodating 30 students. The room now benefits from constant filtered fresh air, odour removal, a more comfortable environment, and lower heating costs.
The VRL-C 870 G operates continuously, with an adjustable flow rate managed by a CO2 sensor that increases airflow when CO2 levels exceed a set threshold. It also supports humidity and VOC sensors, ensuring a quiet, low-maintenance solution that only requires an annual filter replacement.
For smaller spaces or varied requirements, the VRL range includes a 300-capacity unit and ducted options to suit diverse needs.
High CO2 levels in our classrooms had become a concern, often exceeding recommended thresholds during peak times. While planning refurbishments, we explored solutions and engaged STIEBEL ELTRON.
